Zachbed

In the early 1990's I had a neighbour who had a child with Angelman syndrome. She asked me to build a special bed
for him so that he would be safe during the night. The bed had to physically restrain the child to prevent
self injury, yet still allow him to watch the television to keep him entertained while his mother got some
sleep. Using an old bunk bed as a starting point I added some bars and plexiglass doors to meet the requirements.
In 2000 I was asked to duplicate the bed for the same child at the special needs daycare center. This time the
bed had to be built from scratch.
